Turkey’s national women’s volleyball team won the Olympic ticket
Turkey’s national women’s volleyball team won the Olympic ticket to Tokyo by defeating Germany in the 2020 Olympic games qualifiers. This was the second time in the history of Turkish women’s volleyball.
The final meeting was held at the Omnisport Arena in the Holland city of Apeldoorn and ended with a result of 3:0 in favor of Turkey.
In the semifinals of the European qualification tournament for the women’s volleyball tournament of the Olympic games 2020 in Tokyo, the Turkish team met with Polish sportswomen, winning with a score of 3:2. The first set of the semifinal match ended in favor of Poland (25-19). Turkey won the second set (18-25), and Poland won the third set again (25-23). In the fourth set, the teams went side by side and only in the 45th minute the Turkish team still managed to win with a score of 31-33 and equalize to 2-2. Turkey won the fifth set with a score of 11-15 and thus reached the final of the European qualification tournament for the women’s volleyball tournament of the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
In the game against the German national team, the first from the very beginning of the match to the end of an outstanding game almost got on his knees. Turkey started the final fight of the tournament, taking a 4-1 lead at the very beginning of the match. As a result, the first set ended with a score of 25-17. The second set was also victorious for the Turkish team and ended with the score 25-19. In the third set, luck did not leave Turkey, it took the lead with a result of 23-22, bringing the final points 3: 0 for the match.

Second trip to the Olympics
The Turkish women’s national volleyball team received an Olympic berth for the second time in its history. The first time this happened was at the 2012 Olympic games in London.
