Turkey celebrates the national holiday – the day of the Turkish Republic

Today, on October 29, Turkey celebrates the national holiday – the day of the Turkish Republic.

At the beginning of the 20th century on the territory of modern Turkey there are a lot of important events. They determined the further course of history of the country and as well as the whole world. After the failure in the first world war in the territory of the former Ottoman Empire occupied by the Entente countries. A bloody war for independence stared, led by the leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. As a result of this war of liberation, countries signed a peace Treaty in Lausanne, according to which they recognized the invincible Turkish state. On October 29, 1923, there was the Grand National Assembly, during which the Republican form of government was established. The country became known as the Turkish Republic, and its first President was Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. Since then, this day became a national holiday throughout the country.

Turks are very proud of their country

They cherish their history and ancestors and attach a lot of importance to national holidays. Everyone pays tribute and honors to the one who in the difficult struggle for freedom and independence raised the country to a new level. The unsurpassed leader, the brilliant ruler who became the father of the entire Turkish nation and the founder of the Turkish Republic, Ataturk, is still a matter of pride and respect for all Turks. Sincere folk love created a real cult of personality, which does not decrease even after so many years.

Traditionally, the holiday startes from the second half of October 28. Everywhere hang out state flags, and official institutions, and ordinary residents. We can see national flags even on ordinary cars. In government offices, educational institutions and schools, 29 October is declared as a day off. Solemn events are everywhere, festive processions go on the streets of the cities. At the mausoleum of Ataturk in Ankara there are army reviews. In the evening there are festive concerts and fireworks.

Celebrations will be in Alanya also . They will begin at 9 am with the laying of wreaths at the monument of Ataturk in the city center. In the evening there will be a concert of popular Turkish performers on the square in front of the city hall.
