Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Ankara

Russian President Vladimir Putin, at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, paid official visit to Ankara on April 3-4. Presidents of Turkey and Russia took part in the official start of construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant in Turkey. The Akkuyu Plant being built by Rosatom in Turkey is a grandiose project important for Russian-Turkish relations, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on the eve of the beginning of its construction. It is planned that the first Akkuyu reactor will be launched in 2023 – on the 100th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey. Erdogan also stressed that Turkey intends to further deepen cooperation with Russia.
