In Turkey, an ancient Christian church was found at the bottom of the lake.
Ruins are 50 meters from the shore at a depth of 3 meters, the age of church is more than 1,5 thousand years. Archaeologists believe that the church was built around 390 year of our era, when the city Iznik was called Nicaea and Istanbul was Constantinople – the eastern center of the Roman Empire. Probably, the building was destroyed during the earthquake in 740 year. Also, scientists believe, that under the church could be hiding another treasure: the ancient pagan temple of Apollo – the sun God of the ancient Greeks and Romans and according to some sources, the prototype of Jesus in the early Christians.
