In Turkey people like sports very much. In recent years, it has received a lot of attention from the government. And as a result – Turkish athletes win on the world arenas.
The last days have been really successful for Turkish athletes.
The capital of England recently hosted the Paralympic World Championship. In water sports Sumeye Boyacı, Sevilay Ozturk and Beytullah Eroglu represented Turkey. They competed in the finals of the discipline 50 meters backstroke. Sumeye Boyacı won the silver medal with a score 44,74, with a difference of only 0.3 seconds from the first place. It is a great pride for me, said the silver medalist.

In the final of the world wrestling championship in Greco-Roman style, that was in Kazakhstan, on the podium again was a Turkish athlete. Riza Kayalp weighing 130 kg won the gold medal, defeating Cuban Oscar Pinot Hinds with a score of 3: 1. Riza Kayalp was the first Turkish athlete who won the Greco-Roman wrestling world Championships four times.

This championship from the first day was successful for Shazie Erdogan, Turkish athlete in the weight of 45 kg. She took gold with a jerk of 77 kg, silver with a push of 92 kg and a gold medal with a total weight of 169 kg.
